the Book
The
storytelling project equips and enables parishes
to share Bible stories in their local primary
schools. Some teams have been visiting the same
school for as long as 7 years. The project was
initially offered for 1 year but the schools
love it and want it to continue, so it has. The
children in those schools will have heard a Bible
story shared by people of faith for almost every
week of their school life, that is an amazing
fact. Teams are working in the City, Duffield,
Belper area, Mickelover, Breaston, Repton, Alfreton,
Ripley, Great Longstone, Wirksworth, Ashbourne,
Bakewell, Littleover, Allestree, Hadfield, Peak
Forest, Chellaston. and Long Eaton a total of
59 schools.
I have been
invited to several churches and Deanery Synods
to talk, explain, and demonstrate Open the
Book
and other areas have committed to the project
and are busy making the props to accompany
the
storytelling.

Psalm 84 verse 4 “We will tell the next
generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord.
His power and the wonders he has done.”
Open the Book is an effective way of doing just
this.
Many of the churches now involved in Open the
Book have found it to be a great friendship building
activity as a wide range of people can be involved
in small ways.
Without exception the schools that are welcoming
Open the Book value the addition to the curriculum
and appreciate the local church involvement in
this way.
I have schools that have expressed a desire for
an Open the Book team to visit them but unfortunately
no one is operating in their area. This could
be your area!! Have your church/deanery ever discussed
or considered the possibility of embarking on
Open the Book?
If you are interested to learn more about the
project or feel it is something you would like
to be involved in please don’t hesitate
to contact me, I’m happy to come and share
the Open the Book story with you and explain how
it works.
If you want to know more about Open The Book,
