to children & their families:
Children under five
If we can give young children a positive first
experience of church, great! Children under five
also bring with them their mum, dad, or carer,
allowing us the opportunity to build relationships
with the whole family.
Across the Diocese we have some excellent examples
of a variety of ways churches can reach out to
this age group. Whether it be a short informal
service in church followed by refreshments, chat
and playtime, or a toddler group. They both provide
a combination of worship, teaching and prayer
which is understandable and enjoyable for young
children. By doing so they provide a non-threatening
introduction into church for non-churchgoers with
a young family.
There are lots of good resources available to
help with this age group. Here are just a few:-
Pupfish Books
Why not take a look at Pupfish books for pre
school children Susie Poole has written several
books for use with this age group. Many of them
are based on verses of scripture with beautiful
illustrations.
