Blessing of the well on Friday 23 June

 

'The Rainbow' Flower Festival, St Luke's Church, Heage, 24 - 25 June, 11am - 4pm

 

'Life, and Amazing Journey'. All Saints, Dale Abbey, 30 June - 3 July

Church open Friday 2 - 5.30pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am - 5pm and Monday 10am - 2pm

 

24 June

The Crafted Garden, St Peter's Stonebroom, 24 June - 2 July

10am - 4pm and 12 noon - 4pm Sunday. The exhibition runs from 24 June to 2nd July. There qill be 1000s of flowers crafted from wool, paper, felt etc displayed as garlands, floral arrangements and tableaux. Free admission. Garden party on 24 June with stalls, games and a raffle, lunches, afternoon tea and other refreshments will be available.  

 

30 June

Music for a Summer's Night, St Lawrence Whitwell, 7.30pm  

A selection of pieces for a seasonal concert performed by Whitwell Brass Band. Refreshments during the interval. 

 

2 July

Open Gardens, St Lawrence Church Barlow, 2 July, 10am - 5pm

18 gardens throughout the village to view, refreshments available at various locations and of course tea and cakes at church. 

 

5 July

University of Derby Art Show, Derby Cathedral, July 5th - end of July

The University of Derbys art graduates take over the Cathedral in July, exhibiting their final year works in a variety of diverse spaces across the Cathedral. Expect to see contemporary sculpture, intensely moving work inspired by the refugee crisis, provocative oil series and much more. 

 

 

7 July

Lunchtime Concert, Derby Cathedral, 7 July, 1pm

Amanda Bonsall (soprano) performs in the sumptuous surroundings of Derby Cathedral. Free admission, retiring collection. 

 
8 July

Open Garden, 8 July , 2pm - 4.30pm

Come along and visit the garden and partake of afternoon tea and scones at the home of John and Margaret Louch 37 Hunters Drive, Kilburn, DE56 0ND. Tickets £5 Children. Tickets available from members of the Cathedral social committee or Cathedral Bookshop. 

 

14 July 

Lunchtime Concert, Derby Cathedral, 14 July, 1pm

Baroque and baroque-inspired delights by piano by Hugh Morros, Derby Cathedral Director of Music. Free admission, retiring collection. 

 

15 July

Saying Goodbye Service, Derby Cathedral, 15 July, 3pm

The Saying Goodbye services are the first international set of rememberance services, for people who have suffered the loss of a baby at any stage, and whether that be recently or decades ago. They provide a time and a place to acknowledge and remember your baby, whilst collectively 'saying goodbye'. The service also welcomes anyone grieving the fact that they have been unable to have children. The service is for people of any faith or no faith, are free to attend, no tickets need to be booked and people are invited to bring family, friends and children with them. This is your opportunity to find out more about this unique form of music-making. Visitors to the Ctahedral will be able to tour the tower, watch change ringing demostrations in the ringing chamber and try ringing a real bell. £4 Adults £3 8-16 years.

13 September

Healing Service, Convent of the Holy Name, 13 September, 7.30pm

Harvest Festival, Bakewell Agricultural Business Centre, 1 October 2.30pm

The Rt Revd Jan MacFarlane, The Bishop of Repton is our guest speaker. Poetry by Phillip Holland and The Bel Canto Choir from Baslow helping is worship and celebrate together. All donation (non perishable) food items will support the Jigsaw Foodbank in Matlock. Held in the Auction Ring. Free parking and resfreshments served after the service.

Messy Cathedral, Derby Cathedral, 21 October, 3-5pm

Messy activities for all ages - young and not so young! Messy picnic, messy worship, messy resources to buy. Bring your messy church family along for a celebration or come just to enjoy the event and pick up some ideas. Booking open now. There will be a small charge of £3 per family or £2 for an individual to cover the materials and picnic (help with this available if needed).
