‘Experience’ Christian Festivals: Churches Inviting Schools In

The ‘Experience’ Journeys are an exciting way to share Christian festivals with school children. Suitable for Community and Church schools, children become engaged in the events and celebrations of major Christian festivals. Children travel around stations set up in the church building or outdoor space, and have opportunities to respond through multi-sensory activities.

These sessions are open to all.

Mental Health First Aid for Clergy, Youth & Children’s Leaders

Would you know how to spot the signs of mental health issues in a young person? A look at statistics and stories with some general guidance as to how to respond appropriately, and where and how you might signpost a young person for further help.

Detached Youth Work: Responding to Young People on Our Streets & in Communal Areas

This is a practical training session for those who are new to detached work or those who are wanting to engage with young people in the community.

Exploring all the stages of detached work, from assessing the needs of young people through to making contact and enthusing young people to get involved in new church or community projects.

Working with Small Groups: Training for Youth Leaders

This course is aimed at anyone, lay or ordained, who wants to encourage a small group of young people in their faith.

Many churches have only 2 or 3 secondary school-age youngsters in the congregation. This session will look at why it is important to meet regularly with them, what sort of programme you can put together and we will look at some of the resources available.

First Aid for Children’s & Youth Leaders

Chesterfield Archdeaconry - venue and date TBC

This certificated course will cover the essential elements of what to do whilst waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

It will cover the aims of First Aid, what to put in a First Aid kit, how to deal with an unconscious person, resuscitation, treating burns and bleeding, and what to do if a child suffers from asthma, epilepsy or diabetes.

On satisfactory completion of the course, an Emergency Life Support Certificate will be presented. This is valid for three years.
