General Information - Emergency Plan

Derby Diocesan/Faith Groups Emergency Plan

Last Updated on Monday, 12 April 2010 01:42

It is the nature of disasters and emergencies that they are unpredictable. We do not know when, where or in what form they will happen. What we do know is that it is important that trained people can be relied upon to respond quickly with appropriate help.

The role of the churches in this is to provide pastoral care and support as a concrete expression of the gospel in a time of crisis.

The Diocese acts as co-ordinator for the other denominations and Faith Groups and works alongside those responsible for counselling and other expressions of care, both at the scene of an incident, at the survivors’ centre and the relatives’ reception centre.

The plan is flexible, with the ability to operate in part or in total, It can operate on a county-wide level, on a purely local level, or in conjunction with the plans of neighbouring counties.
