Good causes in Derbyshire and community health projects in
North India will benefit from the profits made through sales
of souvenirs commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Diocese
of Derby and Derby Cathedral.
Along with local charities, the St Stephen's Hospital Delhi
community health project, which offers primary healthcare
to the poorest of the poor in the Delhi area of India, will
receive cash from all profits made on the souvenirs.
The range of goods available include an anniversary china
mug, china plates (very limited numbers), quality milk or
plain chocolate bars and a leather bookmark. A tea towel has
also been produced especially for the 75th anniversary - the
artistic skills of Counties Ecumenical Development Officer
for Derbyshire, The Revd Philip Webb created a design around
the map of the Diocese, highlighting significant landmarks
in its four corners and the Cathedral featured in the centre.
All items are produced using the blue and white colour scheme
of the Diocese's 75th anniversary logo.
Keepsakes will be on sale at a range of venues from June
onwards, starting with the 'Party in the Park' at Chatsworth
House on Saturday, June 22nd, a major Christian celebration
event which could attract around 6,000 people. The souvenir
stall will be found in the 'Marketplace' tent along with many
other exhibitors.
The Diocese of Derby has a special partnership with the Church
of North India and the committee which has been organising,
delivering and publicising activities for the 75th anniversary
year agreed that it would be appropriate for some of the profits
from sales of keepsakes to go towards funding healthcare projects
in one of the most deprived areas of that region.
END.
