| People from all over Derbyshire are invited
to attend a service of farewell at Derby Cathedral on Tuesday,
May 10th for the Rt Rev'd Jonathan Bailey, Bishop of Derby,
who retires this month.
The service, which starts at 7.30pm, is open to all, including
clergy, congregations and a whole range of people from the
private, public and voluntary sectors of Derbyshire life who
have worked with the bishop since he came to the diocese in
1995.
The service will celebrate Bishop Jonathan's contribution
to Derbyshire and include prayers for his retirement with
his wife, The Rev'd Susan Bailey. They will be moving to Gloucestershire
imminently.
Following Bishop Jonathan's departure, the Rt Rev'd David
Hawtin, Bishop of Repton, will lead the Church of England
in the county until the autumn until the new Bishop of Derby,
the Rt Rev'd Dr Alastair Redfern, officially takes on his
duties.
