The day will be presided over by Bishop Alastair, who will be assisted by Dr Christina Baxter. Christina is former principal of St John’s College, where she taught amongst other things a popular MA module on Spiritual Direction. She will be sharing her knowledge and insights with us from her experiences as a spiritual director, supervisor and trainer.
The day will be an opportunity for established accompaniers to meet with those who have completed last year’s course and are now embarking on the practicalities of accompaniment and we shall be able to share with one another the challenges and rewards of this ministry.
Supervision becomes an increasingly important aspect of spiritual accompaniment within the diocese and we shall have the opportunity to reflect on the importance of supervision and to consider ways in which we can engage with it. As we review and discuss this we will consider how we can develop peer supervision groups further. There will also be time for sharing, networking and reflection.
