Freedom Week 2017 will be launched on 14 October, from 12.30 p.m., at St Barnabas Centre Danesmoor with a sandwich lunch; act of worship and blessing of the Freedom Week candles; talks and discussion groups about how to respond to modern slavery both practically and spiritually. There will be resources to take away on the day for use in parishes and schools.

Freedom Week is a Derby Diocese initiative to commemorate those trapped in modern slavery and the people who try to tackle this terrible crime.

There will be a Chain of Light and Prayer across the Diocese with two candles passed between parishes and other groups. There will be resources avaialble for worship - in parishes and schools; prayer vigils; awareness raising talks; and a Pilgrimage of Light to mark Anti-Slavery Day on 18 October.

The Diocese of Derby will celebrate its 90th anniversary in October 2017. The Diocesan Worship Advisory Group has produced special worship material for use by parishes on Sunday 29 October. The Diocesan Education Team have also produced collective worship resources for schools. All resources are attached.
